Somewhere between art catalogue and graphic novel, illustrated book and photonovel, this book fits into some unnamed category all its own. With this extraordinary book, a great fiction writer and poet, Raymond Carver, meets an entire generation of contemporary artists. The young artist Carlo Dalcielo fell in love with Carver’s poem «The Painter and the Fishv», and so he broke the poem down into a storyboard and then called upon 54 of the most significant artists in Italy, commissioning an image, a frame, from each of them.These works, read in succession like a book, give us a Carver country in kaleidoscope fashion. The book (which opens with Carver’s poem) is a highly original editorial work that can be read as a comic book, a poem, an art catalogue, a single work, but one that’s multifaceted.
